On October 8th, Barbara Izabela Costa, President of the Brazilian University Group, along with her delegation, visited Shandong Second Medical University (SDSMU). President Guan Yingjun met with the delegation for discussions, accompanied by Vice Presidents Liang Shujuan and Cheng Min.

President Guan extended a warm welcome to Barbara Izabela Costa and her team, providing a brief overview of the university’s development, unique educational strengths, andits international collaborations. She emphasized that the university places great importance on international cooperation. The Brazilian University Group,as the largest private university in Brazil, has a strong reputation in medical education. Both institutions have maintained close communication, and there is significant potential for collaboration in areas such as medicine, biotechnology, and public health. President Guan expressed her hope that this visit would deepen their partnership and further promote cooperation in student training, faculty exchanges, and joint research projects, leading to fruitful outcomes.

BarbaraIzabela Costa expressed her gratitude for the university’s warm reception and noted that the two institutions had had numerous friendly exchanges. She affirmed that their cooperation had a solid foundation and pledged to continue supporting and advancing various practical collaborations between the universities.

Following the meeting, both parties engaged in in-depth discussions, exchanging views andreaching consensus on collaboration in fields such as oral medicine, biomedical science, traditional Chinese medicine, joint research, and academic seminars.

Duringthe visit, the Brazilian University Group delegation also toured the university’shistory museum, clinical skills training center, cultural and sports activity center, Institute of Plastic Surgery, and affiliated hospital.

Officials from the Party Committee Office, International Cooperation and Exchange Office(International Education College), Development Planning Office, AcademicAffairs Office, Research Office, Graduate School, Affiliated Hospital, Schoolof Dentistry, School of Life Sciences and Technology, School of Medical Imaging, School of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and the Institute of Plastic Surgery participated in the above activities.
